Why It Matters

Why Professional Document Translation Matters

Translating an official document is not simply converting words from one language to another. The translation needs to be accurate, complete and usable for the authority that will receive it.

  • Correct Terminology

Legal, academic, medical and technical terms rendered accurately for the context.

  • Names & Dates Preserved

Names, dates and spellings kept consistent with the original and your other documents.

  • Consistent Formatting

Layout that follows the original, so the translation is easy to compare and review.

  • Accurate Numbers & References

Figures, reference numbers, registration numbers and amounts carefully checked.

  • Stamps & Seals Handled

Stamps, seals, signatures and handwritten notes identified and translated or described.

  • Appropriate Certification

Certified, notarized or sworn translation chosen to match the requirement.

  • Destination Requirements

Prepared with the receiving country or authority’s requirements in mind.

  • Confidentiality

Your personal and business documents handled with discretion.

  • Document Usability

Delivered in the agreed format, ready for your submission.

Acceptance of any translation is decided by the receiving authority. We recommend confirming their requirements before ordering.

FAQ

Document Translation: Frequently Asked Questions

A certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed statement or certificate confirming that it is a complete and accurate translation of the original document. The exact form of certification required depends on the authority that will receive the document.

A certified translation includes a statement confirming the accuracy of the translation. A notarized translation adds a notary’s attestation, usually of the signature on the translator’s declaration. The notary does not check the translation itself. Which one you need depends on the requirements of the receiving authority.

A sworn translation is prepared by a translator who has been authorized or sworn in by a court or government authority, and it usually carries the translator’s official stamp. Requirements vary by destination country and authority, and some authorities accept only translators sworn in their own country, so please confirm what is accepted before ordering.

An apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document so it can be used in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. Countries outside the Convention may require embassy legalization instead. Requirements and costs depend on the document, issuing authority, destination country and process, so apostille attestation is quoted individually.
